The Great Buddha

Tsurugaoka-Hachimangu

Hokoku-ji Temple
Secluded in the hills of eastern Kamakura, Hokokuji is a small temple of the Rinzai Sect of Zen Buddhism. Hokokuji is best known for the beautiful, small grove with over 2000 dark green bamboo stalks.
Engaku-ji Temple
Engakuji is one of the leading Zen temples in Eastern Japan and the second in rank of Kamakura's five great Zen temples. Engakuji was founded by the ruling regent Hojo Tokimune in the year 1282.
Kencho-ji Temple
Kenchoji is the first in rank of Kamakura's five great Zen temples. Being the oldest Zen temple in Kamakura, Kenchoji was founded by the ruling regent Hojo Tokiyori in 1253 during the Kencho Era after which it was named.
